By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Health (MoH) is moving forward with a process to evaluate decades worth of health sector reforms.
According to Director of Health Services, Dr, Marvin Manzanero, the process began in May, through technical cooperation that the government of Belize requested from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO). Manzanero said that the process will include several meetings of all health sector stakeholders and a statistical review of health indicators spanning over 20 years.
The assessment to date includes a discussion of findings, recommendations for addressing identified gaps and a proposed roadmap for implementation of recommendations and this week’s meeting is in light to review the indicators and their sources.
One such meeting was held yesterday and included a Health System Team from PAHO headquarters in Washington, DC, PAHO Belize Office, and key technical staff from MoH headquarters, NHI and KHMH. The review is being conducted with funds provided through an EU grant.
“Our intention is to have this ready by March 2020.” , Dr. Marvin Manzanero said.
He added that there will be a final report with identified gaps and recommendations published at the end of the process, which will be shared.
