Team Saldivar struts in new photo

By BBN Staff: Today, John Saldivar, who is campaigning for the title of United Democratic Party (UDP) Leader, showed how much traction he has gained in the race with a new photo of his supporting team.

The photo, posted on the Team Saldivar for Leader Facebook page, shows Saldivar with a supporting cast of 17 members of the UDP, many of whom are seated members of Cabinet, and others are notable names within the party. Saldivar has gained the support of his peers such as Gaspar Vega, Dr. Carla Barnett, Beverly Williams, Pablo Marin, Jugo Patt, Edmond Castro, along with names like Denny Grijalva, Phillip Willoughby, Dianne Finnegan, and Shyne Barrow.

His opponent for the top spot, Deputy Party Leader Patrick Faber, currently has a more modest picture of him walking and holding hands with school children, which more speaks to his role in education.

At the official deadline for the submission of names for the five vacant leadership positions that will be available at the upcoming convention, Faber and Saldivar were the only names tendered for the post of Party Leader. 

Faber and Saldivar battled for the post of Deputy Party Leader in 2016, a contest that ultimately saw Faber as the victor. The other open positions and names trying to fill them are as follows: First Deputy Leader, Hugo Patt and Tracy Panton; Second Deputy Leader, Manuel Heredia and Beverly Williams; National Chairman, Michael Peyrefitte, John Castillo, and Dr. Carla Barnett; Vice-Chair, Alberto August, Clifford Peters, and Khalid Belisle.
