US Embassy accepting applications for Cultural Preservation funding

By BBN Staff: The US Embassy in Belize is now accepting applications for the Ambassadors fund for Cultural Preservation.

The United States Embassy in Belize, the Cultural Heritage Center of the Office of Education and Cultural Affairs of the State Department announced the launch of the competition for the year 2020 of the program “Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP)”.

The fund supports a wide range of cultural heritage preservation projects, including technical support for the restoration of historic buildings, the evaluation and preservation of rare artefacts and museum collections, as well as protection of important archaeological sites, and documentation of traditional arts and crafts techniques in the process of disappearing and specific to Belize’s cultural heritage.

The competition is open to all non-governmental organizations in Belize, museums, government ministries, or similar non-commercial institutions, organizations that can demonstrate that they have the required experience and the means to manage projects, preservation of cultural heritage.

The categories for the fund are cultural sites, objects and cultural collections and forms of traditional cultural expression.

The fund supports the protection of cultural sites, cultural objects and forms of traditional cultural expressions in more than 100 countries around the world.
