By BBN Staff: Due to the on-going water interruption affecting the towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena, Belize Water Services (BWS) informed that water is expected to be restored by 7:00 p.m. today.
However, BWS has coordinated efforts with the San Ignacio/Santa Elena Town Council, the Belmopan Town Council and the Fire Department to supply customers in the area, as follows:
Those customers with vehicles and containers to transport water can fill water at the Benque Viejo Fire Station on Kennedy Street.
Two water delivery trucks will be on the following routes in the twin towns:
Truck 1: From 1st Street to 19th Street in San Ignacio
Truck 2: From Loma Luz Boulevard to St. Ignatius High School
The delivery of water will start around 1:00 p.m. today.
BWS says that the extended water interruption has been caused due to the water supply wells having been inundated by flood waters.
BWS crews are working diligently to restore water at earliest.
Customers are advised to boil the water before drinking or consuming in any way, due to contamination risk.
This boil water advisory applies to both transported water and water from the distribution system when the system is restored.
BWS apologizes for any inconvenience this extended interruption is causing to customers in the San Ignacio/Santa Elena area.
