By BBN Staff: This morning, administration of the following pre, primary and high schools informed BBN that classes had been suspended due to the on-going water interruption that is affecting San Ignacio and Santa Elena:
Santa Elena Primary School
Saint Ignatius High school
Eden SDA primary
St. Andrews Anglican
Bishop Martin School
Sacred Heart Primary
Jireh Pre School
Baptist Pre School
Classes were also suspended for Cristo Rey RC School as they reported broken pipe lines after the flash flood that affected the village yesterday.
Sacred Heart High School is having classes but students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. today.
Last night, Belize Water Services (BWS) issued a statement informing residents of San Ignacio and Santa Elena that due to the heavy rains, there is on-going water interruption.
BWS informed that the water source for San Ignacio/Santa Elena has been adversely affected by the flood and no water can be pumped into the system until the flood water subside.
BWS says that it continues to monitor and is hopeful that restoration work can start sometime today.
Furthermore, BWS forewarns the public that due to the flooding, it is recommended to treat the water by boiling before drinking or consuming in any way.
