NEMO Minister visits residents in Benque Viejo after flash flood

By BBN Staff: Several videos and pictures went viral yesterday showing the state of homes and the El Calvario church in Benque Viejo that were affected by the flash flood.

Minister of National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) Edmond Castro arrived in Benque Viejo yesterday to assess the situation.

Castro was joined by Cayo West Area Representative, Erwin Contreras and Benque Viejo Mayor, Marconi Sosa.

NEMO officials had responded in the early hours yesterday morning after they were alerted of the situation.

NEMO reports that over 400 residents were affected and portions of road were rendered temporarily impassable.

NEMO provided immediate relief supplies to families affected.
