Essence highlights Belize as the best place for a “girl’s trip”

Posted: Wednesday, November 6, 2019. 10:04 am CST.

By BBN Staff: Essence, the parent company of the monthly publication Essence Magazine in the United States, published an article this week encouraging women in the US to make Belize the destination for their
next “girl’s trip.”

The article, entitled “The Luxe Belize Getaway You And Your Girls Need Today,” was published yesterday, November 5. The publication, which caters mostly to African American women, described Belize as a “must-visit” destination for the attractions that already exist and the fact that ultra-luxe new resorts are expected to be available in
the country by 2020.

“…it’s really Belize’s cultural diversity and attractions that make it a fantastic draw. This underrated gem is a melting pot of Mayan, Creole, Mestizo, Spanish, Lebanese, Chinese, British, Indian, and Mennonite heritage — also coupled with a range of activities such as the Altun Ha Mayan ruins, zip-lining, swimming with the sharks or tubing through its famed Crystal Cave. Really, you can’t go wrong here,” the article said.

Essence also told its readers that the food, hotels, and attractions in Belize make it one of the destinations emerging to outrank countries that have long held the tourism top spots in the region, such as Mexico and Costa Rica.

The accolade comes only a week after the New York Times highlighted Belize in a travel writing piece, adding to an already impressive collection of international mentions for the country in 2019.
