Man drowns while on fishing trip

By BBN Staff: A man drowned in San Pedro, Belize yesterday.

He is Gustavo Lizarraga, 25.

According to police reports, at about midday he and two other persons went south of San Pedro Town en-route to the Barrier Reef area approximately 1 ½ mile away from shore to fish.

Police say that about 45 minutes into the trip water began to enter the kayak and it began to sink.

For unknown reasons, Lizarraga stayed on board while the other men swam to shore.

His body was later seen floating.

Police are investigating.
