By Aaron Humes: Kyle Chaplin, 28, of Mayflower Street will serve a concurrent sentence of six months jail time for four counts of aggravated assault of police officers.
Chaplin, who initially pleaded not guilty, changed his plea before Magistrate Khadeen Palmer.
On December 9, 2018, police responded to shots being fired in the Mayflower Street area. Four of the officers – three constables and a corporal, entered an alley off the main street and on their way through they saw a man who ran off when he saw them.
The officers went after him but lost sight of him. Then he suddenly popped up armed and fired several times at them.
The officers returned fire but neither side was hurt.
