Edward P. Yorke students rank first and second in 2019 CXC

By BBN Staff: In Belize two female students from Edward P. Yorke High School have been ranked first and second for the 2019 CXC examinations while a third has been ranked the most outstanding in the region.

In first place is Alexis Jerrie Guy who obtained 17 Grade 1s in the General Proficiency Level in Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, English A, English B, Information Technology, Integrated Science, Mathematics, Office Administration, Physics, Principles of Accounts, Principles of Business, Religious Education, Spanish, Electronic Document Preparation and Management, Physical Education as well as Human and Social Biology. She obtained one Grade 1 at the General Proficiency Level in Social Studies.

Dayana Estephany Marroquin who ranked second received 14 Grade 1’s at the General Proficiency Level in

Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, English A, Information Technology, Integrated Science, Mathematics, Office Administration, Physics, Principles of Business, Social Studies, Spanish, Electronic Document Preparation and Management as well as Human and Social Biology.

She obtained two Grade 2s at the General Proficiency Level in Religious Studies and English B.

While those two Edward P. Yorke students dominated the exams, another, Angie Milagro Matute will receive a subject group award in Technical/Vocational. She will be invited to a ceremony in Grenada where she will be awarded Most Outstanding Performance in Technical Vocational in the region.

These students are among the 3,695 who sat the CXC examinations for 2018-2019. They will be honored at the Omar Longsworth Auditorium in Independence, Stann Creek on November 29th.
