Former Belize City administrator willing to halt execution against CitCo, demands payment in installments

Posted: Thursday, November 14, 2019. 2:21 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Attorneys for Former City administrator, Candice Miller have written to the Belize City Council informing that their client is willing to halt execution efforts until a determination of the council’s appeal and on a without prejudice basis upon payment of $200,000.

Miller is willing to accept the payments in installments beginning November 20 and with a final payment on January 30, 2020.

On October 4, Justice Courtenay Abel handed down a decision where Miller was awarded over $400,000 in compensation for wrongful termination by the Belize City Council.

On Monday, the Belize City Council filed an application to appeal that decision.

Since the writ of execution was granted, court officers had moved to crowfoot the council’s assets to cover the money owed to Miller.

The application for the stay of execution is before the court and a date has not yet been announced for that hearing.
