By BBN Staff: Belize City Councilor, Allan Pollard, was at the launch of the newly established Mind Health Connect yesterday.

This is a new non-governmental organization, that seeks to champion mental health issues.

Pollard, a panelist, spoke about his own experiences with severe anxiety and taking medication to control his condition.

According to Pollard, he is viewed as a confident person “but inside of him there is a war going on”.

Pollard accompanied Sahar Vasquez, the founder of Mind Health Connect.

According to Vasquez, mental health is as serious as physical health although it cannot be determined via an x-ray or blood test.

Vasquez says that we need to treat each other with compassion rather than discriminating others for mental illness.
