Jaguars on their way to Grenada for date with destiny

Posted: Saturday, November 16, 2019. 9:32 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: Yesterday the Belize Jaguars left Belize as they began their journey to Grenada. They spent the night in Miami, Florida and will head out later today for Sunday’s match with Grenada in the CONCACAF Nations League.

Belize’s Thursday night defeat of French Guiana by a score of 2-0 confirmed the Spice Boyz (Grenada) as group winners, qualifying them to League A and the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

A win for Belize on Sunday gets them second place and a spot in the Gold Cup qualifiers next year. Even a draw may be enough if French Guiana and St. Kitts and Nevis draw as well.

Belize controls its destiny especially with history on their side. During the 2013 World Cup qualifiers, Belize beat Grenada in Grenada after losing to them on our home turf.

The Jaguars will be looking for their third straight win after losing their first three, including a forfeit to French Guiana in the first game.

The team traveled commercially by American Airlines and returns on Tuesday.
