Lost elderly woman identified as mental health patient from San Ignacio

By BBN Staff:  BBN has confirmed that the elderly woman seen at the Corozal bus terminal this morning is a mental health patient from San Ignacio, Cayo.

The woman has been identified as Antolina Chan.

Chan reportedly resides with her son in Paslow Falls, Cayo.

Health professionals in Cayo familiar with Chan and her condition are coordinating with counterparts in Corozal and are working together to get Ms. Chan back home. BBN has learned that a nurse in Corozal visited the bus terminal in Corozal to look for Ms. Chan, however, she was informed that personnel from the terminal placed Chan on a bus to Trial Farm since she was first picked up from there.

Health professionals and BBN are also trying to contact her family in Cayo.

Update 12:35pm: The Belize Police department has informed that Chan is in the care of officers and they are trying to locate her family.

Update: 4:59pm: The Belize Police department has located a family member of Ms. Chan.
