American charged for fatal road traffic accident

By BBN Staff: American national, Mark Cairns, has been charged in connection with a fatal road traffic accident.

He was charged with manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and driving with alcohol consumption above the prescribed limit.

On Friday just before midnight, Cairns rear-ended a bicycle driven by Steven Olivas, 40, outside Hopkins, Stann Creek.

As a result, Olivas was flung from his bicycle and to his death.
