German tourist dies during visit to archeological site

By BBN Staff: A 58-year old German tourist collapsed during a visit to the Lamanai Archeological site in Orange Walk.

Konrad Karl Burchardt was in a group of over 20 tourists visiting with a German tour guide.

The group had also been touring Guatemala.

The guide told police that Burchardt was not feeling well and sat down as they arrived at the last temple.

When Burchardt got up, he reportedly collapsed. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted on the body.
