Today is World Children’s Day 2019!

Belize is celebrating under the theme “ Protect and secure the well-being of our children”.

The Ministry of Education is observing Children’s Week from November 18 to 22.

The Ministry encouraged schools to engage in activities that will promote the welfare of all children.

“We remain committed to the pledge, in doing everything within the power of our protect and promote our children’s right to survive and thrive, to learn and grow and to make their voice heard and reach their full potential,” a memo from the Ministry noted.

Schools across the nation will be engaged in sports day activities, educational trips, culture day activities and fun day activities.

November 20 marks the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of a Child. World leaders made a historic commitment to the world’s children by adopting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child – an international agreement on childhood.

In earmarking this day, Belize is today hosting its first-ever National Children’s Parliament at the House of Representatives in Belmopan.
