By BBN Staff: The Belize Agricultural Health Authority (BAHA) and the International Regional Organization for Agricultural Health (OIRSA) along with the Ministry of Agriculture, the Banana Growers Association and Fyffes will be having a simulation exercise from November 25-29.
The purpose of the exercise is to assess Belize’s response in the event that the fusarium wilt tropical race 4 of banana is detected in Belize.
The activities will take place at the Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA), BAHA plant health diagnostic laboratory, Big Creek port, and a plantain farm in Georgetown.
The public is reminded that the OIRSA region, including Belize and the wider Caribbean, is free of this devastating banana disease.
