Costa Rica hands out first loss to Belize in U-18 regional volleyball tournament

By Aaron Humes: Hosts Costa Rica gave Belize a tough test last night in the 13th Under-18 Central American Volleyball tournament.

After a runaway start, Belize reeled in the Ticas, narrowly losing the first set 26-24.

Team Belize built on that by winning the second 25-17.

But the class and pressure of the hosts told and they took the next two sets 25-19, 25-15 to win the match and stay undefeated while handing Belize their first loss.

On Wednesday, Belize whipped Nicaragua in 3 sets and earlier in the week, Team Belize also beat Honduras in 4 sets. Our record is now 2 wins and 1 loss.

Next are archrivals Guatemala at 5 p.m. on Friday.
