Report that missing fishermen’s boat was found is incorrect

Posted: Monday, November 25, 2019. 9:19 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Reports that a boat believed to be the one that the three missing fishermen left in, was found today is incorrect.

BBN has confirmed that a vessel was indeed found in the area but the vessel found is not the one belonging to the missing fishermen.

The boat, named The Lorraine, that the missing fishermen were using belongs to Sheldon Gibson, and this boat is relatively new, has a different shape than the one found and has the name Lorraine clearly marked on it. The boat found was rusty, has been in the mangroves for a while, has a different shape and has no name written on it. Family members who know the boat have confirmed that the vessel found is not Gibson’s boat.

Police reports indicate that on Saturday, a relative of Sheldon Gibson reported that Gibson, Elijah Usher and Kevin Roches left Belize City in a white boat to go fishing in the Mapp Caye area.

Family members tried to contact them and were unable to do so.

Police and coastguard officers have been searching the Mapp Caye area but have not found the missing fishermen.
