SIB to conduct census mapping

By BBN Staff: In preparation for the 2020 Population and Housing Census, the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) informed that it will be conducting a census mapping activity, during the period of November 25th – December 13th, 2019.

The purpose of the census mapping exercise is to capture geographic coordinates and photographs of all buildings across the country of Belize, to assist SIB census staff in quickly and efficiently locating dwellings, businesses and other buildings during the 2020 Census.

SIB says that this will allow for the Population and Housing Census to be completed more quickly than previous censuses and in the most cost-effective manner possible.

For the duration of the mapping activity, vehicles marked with the SIB’s logo will be traveling through communities countrywide for this activity.

Staff will be carrying SIB issued identification cards and will be wearing shirts with the SIB’s logo.

The 13^th round of mapping is being conducted in Orange Walk rural communities.
