Belize City Council gets more time to deal with Candice Miller’s crowfoot attempt

Posted: Tuesday, November 26, 2019. 6:53 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Justice Courtney Abel has granted the Belize City Council a stay of execution with regard to the attempt’s of former City Administrator, Candice Miller, to collect on an award owed to her in a lawsuit she won over the council.

This means that former City Administrator, Candice Miller, will not be able to crowfoot the council’s assets as she had previously made an effort to do.

Justice Abel had previously ordered the council to pay Miller almost half million dollars after she was terminated despite having a four year contract. The court had ruled in Miller’s favor after she brought a suit against the council for wrongful termination.

Recently, Miller had instructed her attorney to initiate measures to crowfoot assets from the council to satisfy the judgement. She followed up with a demand for the council to pay her in installments. The City Council had indicated its intention to appeal the decision.
