By Aaron Humes: Prices continue to be mostly stable countrywide, according to the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB).
For the month of October, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was down a tenth of a percentage point from last year and for the first ten months of 2019 it is up 0.2 percent.
Food prices rose slightly, balanced by lower air travel and fuel prices. Belizeans are also paying more for amenities and luxuries such as clothing and sporting and concert events.
Belize is holding its own in the region as one of three countries (El Salvador and Panama are the others) to have negative inflation rates in October.
Closer to home, the Twin Towns reported negative inflation of almost 3 percent, but Orange Walk Town saw prices rise by nearly 3 percent as well.
