Olympic female athlete of the year, Simone Biles given symbolic key to La Isla Bonita

By BBN Staff: Star athlete Simone Biles is in Belize this thanksgiving weekend.

Biles is the most decorated gymnast in world championship history.

People’s Magazine reported that Biles was looking forward to a relaxing Thanksgiving getaway with her family and boyfriend.

Though she didn’t reveal her destination, many media houses in the USA noted that Belize is one of her favorite places to vacation.

The Olympic gold medalist was honored with a symbolic key to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye in a ceremony held yesterday on the island.

San Pedro Mayor, Daniel Guerrero presented the key to Biles and Tourism Minister, Manuel Heredia also gifted Biles with a special Belizean token.

In 2016, Biles made international headlines after winning 4 gold medals at the Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Biles also dominated headlines for claiming strong ties to Belize. She recalled her experiences in the country in several interviews and the relationship with her grandmother, who is of Belizean origin, was the subject of several articles.

Team USA has named Simone Biles, a female athlete of the year 2019.

Biles is scheduled to participate in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
