Belize City man detained for fatal Punta Gorda shooting

By BBN Staff: Punta Gorda police have detained a Belize City man in connection with last night’s shooting. However, they are still seeking another suspect.

At around 10:30 last night, Albert Valentine was walking on Prince Street in Punta Gorda when he was approached by an armed assailant.

As a result, he ran into a yard where Glenford Hines Jr. had been standing.

Unfortunately, the two were shot multiples times but Hines died on the scene.

Valentine remains in a stable condition at the Southern Regional Hospital.

Police say he was to appear in court today for a separate matter.
