By BBN Staff: Today, the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) honored the winner of its Christmas Card Competition, Khloe Landero, a Standard 4 student at Belize City’s Central Christian School.
Landero’s submission in the contest was chosen from a pool of 85 works of art submitted by primary school students from various classes from schools all over the country. NICH said that the committee judging the contest chose Lanrero’s submission for its artistic composition as well as the message the artist was trying to convey.
Landero described her submission as “a Christmas wreath decorated with the Black Orchid to symbolize our beautiful country Belize. The children that surround the wreath represent the different cultures in Belize. The children are happy because everyone gets presents from
Santa. Christmas is for everyone. Everyone deserves a Merry Christmas.”
NICH President Sapna Budhrani presented her prize, $500 in education assistance at a brief ceremony at Central Christian this morning. The contest was made possible through a collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports, and Culture and various private sector partners.
