YWCA shares “Brown Bag Breakfast” with Belize Police Department

Posted: Wednesday, December 18, 2019. 10:33 am CST.

By BBN Staff: Today, the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) paid homage to the brave men and women of the Belize Police Department by taking
breakfast for officers on duty at checkpoints throughout Belize City.

The YWCA’s “Brown Bag” initiative visited officers at checkpoints all over the city, giving out a total of 100 brown paper bags with food.

Deanna Peyrefitte – YWCA general secretary, said that the organization can only host the programs it does with assistance from the community, so it is important to give back to the community. Peyrefitte said that the YWCA chose to make police the subject of the initiative, because of the invaluable role they play in communities across the country.

“These are the men and women on the front line every day,” Peyrefitte said. “As they try to keep our community safe we hope that they are safe and this is our way of telling them ‘thank you’ for us and on behalf of the community.”
