By BBN Staff: 20-year-old Cameron Harris, charged with the murder of Nelson Zelaya while a minor, was acquitted of the charge when the Supreme Court upheld a submission by his attorney Leeroy Banner of no case to answer.
Last week, his brother Lenford Harris Jr. 22, was freed when Senior Crown Counsel Shanice Lovell entered a nolle prosequi, indicating that the Crown will not proceed with the charge against him. The nolle prosequi was entered because the identification evidence against Harris was of a tenuous nature.
About midday on November 24, 2016, at Gardenia Village, Zelaya was at the back of his yard when he was shot in his head. He died on the spot.
