Belize represented at LIV Summit of the Heads of State and Government of SICA

By BBN Staff: Last week, representatives of the heads of state and governments of Central American countries assembled in San Salvador, El Salvador for the LIV Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Central American Integration System (SICA).

Under the Presidency of El Salvador, the representatives of the heads of state and governments discussed the progress made under the region’s integration agenda on areas including migration, sustainable development, regional security, social and economic development, and climate change.

The representatives also acknowledged the importance and necessity for regional integration strengthening and enhanced political dialogue, especially with the current global changes and challenges.

The meeting concluded with the ceremonial handing over of the Presidency Pro Tempore of SICA to Honduras for a period of six months.

Belize was represented by Wilfred Elrington, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Elrington was accompanied by Margaret Juan, Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Belize in El Salvador, and Kyrshanie Pott, First Secretary at the Embassy of Belize in Guatemala.
