DIGI/BECOL Basketball Tournament concluded with a bang on Friday night

The DIGI/BECOL Basketball Tournament bounced to an end on Friday night at Sacred Heart College Auditorium.  Closing night included two decisive game 3s that would determine this year’s champions in the Under 14 and Seniors divisions.  In the first game of the night Misfits narrowly edged Nazarene Primary School 43 – 41 to claim the championship in the Under 14 division, grabbing the title for 2 consecutive years.  Misfits was led by Joseph Palma who had the game high with 19 points while Renan Thompson and Israel August chipped in 10 points apiece.  Kennett Mayen was the top scorer for Nazarene Primary School with 14 points while Elvis Garcia netted 10 points.  In the nightcap Vipers was able to successfully defend their title in the Senior division, defeating Falcons 51 – 48 in the decisive game 3.  Vipers was led by Daniel “Buddy” Nolberto who had the game high with 21 points, while Frank Fuller and Johan Bermudez netted 12 and 8 points respectively.  Elvis Usher was the top scorer for Falcons with 17 points while Kyron “Tut” Molina and Ryan “Mentes” Carbajal chipped in 15 and 8 points respectively.

The San Ignacio & Santa Elena Basketball Association (SSBA) would like to congratulate all the champions, which are Misfits (Under 14), Sacred Heart College (Under 15), Venom (Under 17), Falcons (Under 21), Western Queens (Female), Western Warriors (Over 35/Amateur) and Vipers (Senior).  We would also like to congratulate all the players who received individual awards in their respective categories.
