By BBN Staff: Today, the nation bid farewell to former area representative, Onesimo Pech.
Pech served the people of Belize as area representative for the Orange Walk South constituency from 1984- 1989.
The former educator, politician, and cabinet minister was laid to rest today with a state funeral.
Pech taught at Douglas Primary School, St. Martin de Porres Roman Catholic (RC) School, St. Michael’s Anglican, Queen’s Square Anglican Primary, Gracie Rock Anglican School and Hattieville Government School.
He served as Principal at Guinea Grass R.C. School, San Pedro Columbia R.C. in Toledo and Progresso R.C. in Orange Walk.
Pech was most recently a resident of the Freetown division and his death was announced by that division’s UDP standard-bearer, Orson Elrington.
Elrington said that Pech was a pleasant man with whom he had many fulfilling conversations and stalwart of the UDP who would be missed. He was part of the party’s first-ever Government under Sir Manuel Esquivel.
Condolences came in on social media from other party members including Deputy Prime Minister, Patrick Faber.
Pech died at age 72. May he rest peacefully and rise in glory.
