By BBN Staff: Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, today provided details of a leaked memo indicating that persons driving on the country’s highways would be stopped and photographed.
According to Williams, law-abiding citizens have nothing to fear as they will not be impacted.
He says that criminals using our highways for criminal activities will be targetted.
Williams explained that these new measures come amidst increased levels of drunk driving, transportation of drugs and firearms as well as the disappearance of individuals who are then transported and dumped elsewhere.
“We have seen the incident with Mr. Foster, we have Ms. Roaches, we have Ms. Coc, we have Mr. Brown, we have Mr. Brooks, we have Mr. Gentle, we have the customs woman who was kidnapped in Benque,” recalled Williams.
Williams expressed that as the country’s law enforcement agency, the Police Department simply could not sit by and allow criminals to continue to feel comfortable using our highways.
“We saw it prudent to implement these new measures at our checkpoints, ” he said.
He ended by asking the public to give this strategy a chance.
