Cuban media shows love to the late great Andy Palacio

By BBN Staff: Today the Havana Times, an independent Cuban blog and online magazine, featured “Amunegu” (In Times to Come) as its song of the day.

The song of the day is a regular feature on the site, which is selected by reader requests. The site notes that songs submitted for song of the day must be from an artist from Latin America or the Caribbean.

“Amunegu” is a collaboration between Andy Palacio and the Garifuna Collective, which was featured on his renowned album Watina. The album reached #1 on the World Music Charts Europe in June 2007. Due to Wátina’s success, Andy Palacio was named a UNESCO Artist for Peace and shared the 2007 WOMEX Award with Ivan Duran.

The album also had other recognitions such as being listed on Amazon.com among the 100 Greatest World Music Albums of All Time.
