By BBN Staff: In commenting on his new crime-fighting strategy, Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams shared a bit of what we can expect from the Belize Police Department come 2020.
He pointed out that as of January 15th a joint patrol of police officers and soldiers of the Belize Defence Force will be permanently assigned to each highway.
According to Williams, this was made possible by the purchase of new vehicles by the Ministry of Finance.
He also pointed out that with the assistance of the Ministry of Works, he hopes to construct permanent and modern checkpoints at the Haulover Bridge and 4 miles in Belize City.
Additionally, he hopes to construct one in Dangriga and Belmopan.
These checkpoints he said will emulate those seen internationally.
