By BBN Staff: As Belize consistently establishes itself as the “must-visit” destination in the region, tourist markets all over the world are starting to notice, including the United Kingdom (UK), and now a British publication says that direct flights from London to Belize may be coming soon.
Word of the possibility of a London-Belize direct flight came from an article published this week in ABTA Magazine. ABTA, the travel agency formerly the Association of British Travel Agents, published the article “Better Belize It” this week in which travel writer Emily Eastman spent a week in Belize and chronicled her adventures.
Apart from the stellar review Eastman gave about Belize’s jungles, beaches and Maya ruins, she writes, “A week spent here leaves me wondering how Belize has largely stayed off the tourist radar – something that is no doubt soon to change as word spreads and the promise of direct flights from London sits tantalizingly on the horizon.”
The article did not give any specifics on the work being done to set up the flight, but the information comes from the UK’s largest travel association, representing travel agents and tour operators, with a membership of 1,200 representing over 5,000 retail outlets and offices.
The flight could serve to bolster visitors to Belize from the UK and possibly from other European countries, which represented 12.2 percent of all visitors to Belize in 2019, according to data from the Belize Tourism Board (BTB).
