Belize listed twice among the Top 10 places to live and invest overseas

Posted: Monday, January 6, 2020. 2:30 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: While Belize’s reputation as a premium a tourist destination continues to grow, the country’s popularity as a place for people to retire or live and invest has also been growing, more so in recent years. That increasing popularity has landed Belize two spots in the International Living (IL) top 10 list for “Best Places to Live and Invest Overseas in 2020.”

IL, an Ireland-based publication with a global circulation and 40 years of publishing content on retirement and living around the world, put Ambergris Caye at #6 and San Ignacio, Cayo at #7 on the list. Belize is the only country on that list to have two separate entries. The list included Algarve, Portugal; Mazatlán, Mexico; and Cuenca, Ecuador as the top three picks respectively and ended off with Chiang Mai, Thailand, as the last entry.

The list was later republished in an article by Forbes, a United States-based magazine that is often synonymous with wealth. Having two entries on the list and having Belize listed above territories like Thailand serves to bolster the country’s reputation internationally as the place to be whether to visit or move to.
