Peyrefitte to be endorsed as UDP Chairman

By BBN Staff:  Current Attorney General, Michael Peyrefitte, is expected to be endorsed as the United Democratic Party’s (UDP) next chairman after other UDP candidates withdrew their names from candidacy for the post as chairman.

Dr. Carla Barnett and John Castillo have both submitted their names as candidates to contest the post in the UDP’s upcoming leadership convention but withdrew their names within the last few days. Peyrefitte now remains as the last eligible candidate for the post and is expected to be endorsed at the UDP’s convention next month.

The party’s other contested positions include leader, first and second deputy leader and deputy chairman. John Saldivar and Patrick Faber are going up against each other to secure the party’s leadership position and usher in a new era of politics for the UDP and the country as the party hopes to stun the PUP with a fourth consecutive term.
