By BBN Staff: Sometime last week a photo went viral of a nude male detainee at the holding facility at Queen Street Police Station in Belize City often referred to as “Piss House.”
When asked for comment, Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, appeared unaware of this incident.
Information to our news desk is that the person expressed he would commit suicide and so the officers on duty relieved him of any clothing he could have used to do so.
According to the Commissioner, the police department has a responsibility to ensure persons in their care do not harm themselves or others.
However, he pointed out that instead of leaving the man naked there, on duty officers should have been heightened surveillance.
