Furthermore, the Ministry of Economic Development and Petroleum, the National Designated Authority of Belize (NDA) to the GCF, is currently implementing Belize GCF Readiness Support 2 (Building Capacity for Direct Access to Climate Finance) through the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre.
This support seeks to address the remaining capacity and coordination issues for accessing international climate finance in the country.
This Readiness Support will also provide capacity building support to the sub-committees under the Belize National Climate Change Committee (BNCCC). More specifically, it will further enable the BNCCC sub-committees to support the NDA in identifying and reviewing projects consistent with GCF requirements for better access to climate finance.
As such, the NDA is hosting a Project Inception Workshop on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. The objectives of the workshop will be to:
Introduce project activities
Present the proposed the No-Objection Procedure and a Review Manual for projects in order to standardize the review and approval of concept notes submitted to the NDA; and
Conduct a Capacity needs assessment for GCF project requirements and gender considerations in project development
