Team CORE takes annual Boom to Manatee Canoe race

By BBN Staff: The three-man canoe team “CORE” are the first place winners of the 12th Annual Boom to Manatee Canoe race, hosted by the Belize Canoe Association (BCA).

The race, which was held over the weekend, started off at Henderson’s Bank and ended at Manatee Lookout at Mile 8 1/2 on the Philip Goldson Highway.

Team CORE, which is made up of Daniel Cruz, Amado Cruz and Jerry Cante, cleared the distance with a completion time of 1:25:38. Second and third places went to Team NICH and Team PACT respectively, with completion times of 1:25:41 and 1:25:47 respectively.

A total of 15 teams participated in the event. The BCA noted that its next race is the Upstream Haulover to Boom Canoe Race Sunday 26th January 2020. We will also have our first round of tryouts for those that wish to qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo Japan.
