PM Barrow: FIU inquiry turned up clean

By BBN Staff: In a statement issued today, Prime Minister Dean Barrow informed that he spoke to Belize Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) in connection with the Dermen matter and the possible involvement of Ministers in wrongdoing.

“In this regard, the FIU Director has confirmed that an FIU inquiry turned up nothing whatsoever on Mr. Dermen or any Minister of Government,” Barrow asserted.

PM Barrow further reiterated his solemn promise to act immediately on the basis of any forthcoming evidence against any Minister.

The statement was issued in response of the publication and revelation of court documents indicating that text messages were exchanged with Jacob Kingston an associate of fraudster, Lev Dermen, and Minister of National Security, John Saldivar.
