By BBN Staff: The village chairman for San Roman in the Orange Walk District resigned from his position on December 9, 2019, and while his letter did not state reasons for his resignation, there has been a lot of speculation on social media.
This is because, the chairman, Ponciano Vargas was elected in the 2019 village council elections and ran under a PUP slate.
A councilor, Nathan Vasquez also tendered his resignation opening the way for a by-election in the village.
Due to their resignations, the Government has notified that in accordance with Part 111, Section 9 (1) of the Village Councils Act, Chapter 88 of the Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2003, the below Village Council has declared vacancies within its council as follows:
