By BBN Staff: Earlier today, Jamaica’s Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Christopher Tufton hosted a press conference in which he said that there is no truth to the claim that there is a case of the novel coronavirus at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI ) in Jamaica.
The Minister said that a travel advisory will be issued for travelers to Jamaica from China.
The rumors spread quickly this morning on social media after a patient was transferred to the UHWI from another hospital. That patient has a history of travel to Asia therefore, out of caution, the patient was isolated.
Dr. Carl Bruce, Medical chief of staff at UHWI said that the patient has no fever and showed no symptoms of the novel coronavirus.
