Crown will not proceed with murder trial of Anthony Reyes

By Aaron Humes: A nolle prosequi, indicating that the Crown will not proceed with trial, was entered Wednesday for Anthony Reyes, 21, charged with the murder of Emerson Anderson, 44. Senior Crown Counsel Sheneiza Smith entered the nolle prosequi on a directive from the DPP. It was due to a lack of evidence.

Reyes, a barber of Ebony Street, was arraigned on the murder charge on April 2, 2018. He was scheduled to go on trial before Madam Justice Marilyn Williams. He was represented by Senior Counsel Simeon Sampson.

The incident occurred on March 28, 2018. Anderson was on Ebony Street with a group of friends when a lone gunman barged into the group and opened fire but only he was shot. Anderson, who was not known to be affiliated with any gang, was not believed to have been the target at the time of the shooting.
