By Aaron Humes :The ruling United Democratic Party tried its best to live up to that name following a final National Party Council meeting at its Belize City Headquarters, which concluded just before noon.
The heated race for party leader between John Saldivar and Patrick Faber has exposed apparent divisions within the party ahead of the coming leadership convention, and much of the dirty laundry is being washed in public.
But according to outgoing party chairman Alberto August, it is full speed ahead to next Sunday, February 9, and the election thereafter.
Neither party leader and Prime Minister Dean Barrow nor projected frontrunner Saldivar spoke to the press after the meeting and the usually loquacious Faber would only say that “all will be well in the UDP,” a sentiment with which his Chairman agrees.
We will have more coming up.
