Posted: Monday, February 3, 2020. 8:54 am CST.

By BBN Staff: Tropic Air announced that on Friday, January 31, it accepted delivery of its first Beech 1900D aircraft.

The 1900D is a modern, twin engine, 19 passenger, regional airliner.

It arrived at the the Philip Goldson International Airport in Belize City at 4:15 p.m. after a ferry flight from the USA.

The airliner is to enter service shortly on Tropic Air’s main international routes from Belize City to Cancun, Roatan and Flores.

“The 1900D is a world class airliner. It is fast, pressurized, spacious, and has a stand-up cabin with glass cockpit. This is a significant investment for Tropic Air, and we are excited to be the first in Belize and in Central America to fly it in passenger service,” said John Greif III, President of Tropic Air.

“This investment underscores our commitment to Belize, and the future of tourism. Adding a new aircraft with the capabilities of this type gives us the opportunity to expand our network with service between Belize and our neighboring countries, increasing tourism arrivals, and building regional business opportunities for Belizeans,” said Steve Schulte, CEO.

The 1900D is a turbo-prop airliner that is designed primarily for regional routes.

It is popular for its speed and passenger comfort. The aircraft can fly from Belize City to Cancun in as little as 50 minutes and has a crew of two.

With 40 years of service, Tropic Air currently flies over 200 daily scheduled flights with 20 aircrafts to 15 destinations in Belize, Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala.

Tropic Air now employs over 360 professionals and will carry over 300,000 passengers and 425,000 items of freight system-wide this year.
