It’s official – Activist Shawn Saldano resigns, Edward Young is COLA’s interim president

Posted: Wednesday, February 5, 2020. 11:06 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Nearly eight months after he took the reins from Geovannie Brackett, youth activist Shawn Saldano is out as interim president of Citizens Organized for Liberty through Action (COLA).

The organization held an executive meeting on Wednesday, according to a press statement, and accepted Saldano’s resignation with immediate effect. He cited “unforeseen obligations and circumstances, including having a child on the way.”

COLA has elected current Treasurer Edward Young to act on an interim basis, stating, “Mr. Young has several years’ experience with the organization and has become a valuable asset to our continued operation. We welcome Mr. Young to his new position and look forward to working with him as we continue to confront the many challenges facing our society.”

Former president Geovannie Brackett has indicated no interest in returning to lead the organization in any capacity.
