Driver says lumber strap dislodged and burst causing accident

By BBN Staff: Police have issued an official report regarding the accident that claimed the life of Belizean writer and businessman, Richard Harrison, 55.

Police reports indicate that at about 1:40 p.m. today, cops responded to a traffic accident on the George Price Highway near miles 56 and 57.

The investigation revealed that the truck being driven at the time by Wilmer Kornelson was traveling to Spanish Lookout carrying assorted pine lumber when the bundle strap dislodged and caused the secondary strap securing the load to burst.

After the lumber fell on the road, Harrison collided into the lumbers.

Harrison sustained head and body injuries and died.

An investigation is on going.
