By BBN Staff: Every month, the United States Embassy in Belize features a hardworking Belizean woman who is making a positive impact in our country.
For the month of February, Monique Usher is the Embassy’s Wonder Woman.
Monique has spent much of her young life as a business-oriented person.
At the age of 16, she worked in her family’s business. She earned a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Belize (UB). In late 2012, she started her own small online Facebook business “Aueronne”.
Through an internship program with UB, she joined the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) in 2013 serving as the marketing and public relations officer.
As the Marketing & Public Relations Officer, Monique assisted in the positive positioning of the organization locally, regionally and internationally. She also contributed to publications such as the Invest Belize Magazine.
Fascinated by the many working parts it takes to operate a successful business, she transitioned from marketing to small business development as a business advisor for the Small Business Development Centre Belize (SBDCBelize) in 2015.
In 2019, she was promoted to the Manager of SBDCBelize, where she played an integral role in 2019 in the Entrepreneurship Fest, InnovateBelize, National Entrepreneurship Roadshow, Change Dah Story, Global Entrepreneurship Week, and the National Entrepreneurship Convention!
In her role at SBDCBelize, Monique offers advisory services to MSME and entrepreneurs in business support areas such as management, marketing, finance, pricing, customer service, and taxation. She enjoys imparting knowledge as a facilitator through a year-round business development training calendar.
Monique knows the value of strong work ethics, the importance of teamwork, and communicating value through her business advisory support.
When not busy building her career, she enjoys reading, cooking and listening to uplifting podcasts. She is a firm believer that the mind is the most powerful construct.
