By BBN Staff:  On Thursday, February 6, Special Envoy for Women and Children, Kim Simplis Barrow met with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Sub-Regional Office for the Caribbean, the Cuba Country Office and the National Center for Sex Education (Centro Nacional de Educación Sexual, or CENESEX), with an aim to provide technical assistance in coordinating a mission in Belize.

The objective of the first meeting was to evaluate Belize’s Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and to discuss the various ways Belize can improve the availability and delivery of SRH information and services and CSE in schools.

A second mission has been scheduled with CENESEX in Belize, where they will deliver a training workshop and provide technical support.

CENESEX is a government-funded body in Cuba with a primary mission to lead the implementation of the Cuban policy on sexual education by coordinating entities and organizations that are responsible for social communication, community work, education, counseling and sexual therapy.

CENESEX also has the capacity and willingness to support countries based on their specific needs and their context.
